Our Mission

We are here to cultivate a community centered around optimized health in connection with nature. Both of us have found so much healing and empowerment through our own exploration of what it means to be healthy. What you put in is truly what you get out when it comes to the body and we believe that starting with naturally grown, real food is the first step. From there incorporating herbs to help facilitate the body’s processes and daily movement is the key to the foundation of good health. It has become our purpose to make available the resources to help others on this path.

As we’ve refined our ways of living we found it increasingly hard to find quality. Much of the modern world’s focus around accessibility and quantity has left quality as an afterthought. We are changing that.

We start with healthy, living soil, a step often overlooked in the depleted soil that often results from mono-crop farming. We take a different approach and grow in a permaculture format. This means, emulating natural ecosystems to allow plants to flourish. It looks like jungle or forest growth, creating layers of compatible plants all growing together in symbiosis. Growing in this way typically eliminates the need for any fertilizers, pesticides, and human intervention of any kind. It also creates a livable ecosystem for the nature around us, rather than competing with it, inviting in many beneficial insects and animals.

Alex Demetro

Born in Connecticut but spending summers in the backwoods of Pennsylvania, I grew up with an inherent fascination of nature and observing the wonderful ways our planet lives. From spending my childhood working with trees to exploring different campgrounds and sceneries of the east coast through Boy Scouts, to continuing off-the-beaten-path trips with friends in adulthood, the respect I’ve learned for the Earth is something I’ve put much intention into making a part of my everyday life.

With a background as a personal trainer and sports nutritionalist, learning to only accept the cleanest and most sustainable forms of food without compromising for any diet has become a strong passion of mine. My personal goal is to be able to offer any help for lifestyle changes in a healthier manner, and supply the means to get there and feel better about it.

Growing up outdoors, usually barefoot, and surrounded by gardens, I have had a knack for the natural world and growing plants my whole life. Some of my earliest memories are playing in the garden and learning how to plant, what plants were safe to enjoy, and what a beautiful process it all could be.

Foraging, growing and harvesting medicinal herbs and foods from the local ecosystems has been a way of life for me. Using knowledge and techniques that have been passed from my maternal line for generations bolstered with decades of personal research and working in a commercial growing nursery for years, I have developed a deep understanding and connection with the plants that I work with.

We are so dedicated to living harmoniously that in 2024 we decided to take a big leap. We were searching for land to begin Light Foot Farm, a place to call home.Thats when we decided to build the yurt. After much deliberation and planning we dove in headfirst with winter knocking at the door. Our hands completed every step of the process, a fact that we cherish every day.

We are proud to say that we are currently living off-grid, no electric or plumbing. Candles, oil lamps, a composting waste system, a solar generator, and a wood-burning stove have become much closer friends over this past year. Our resourcefulness and ingenuity have proved essential in this transition and our connection with the land has only strengthened.

Every gust of wind, raindrop, birdcall and coyote howl can be heard while inside the yurt. It was jarring at first, going from a standard 4 walled house to ‘living in the round’ but now these facets have become beautiful reminders that we are nature too, all living and working together.

We are excited to continue sharing the knowledge we’ve accumulated and the modalities that this way of life has to offer to any and everybody that feels called to it.
